Karma In-between Lifetimes

Some Words on The Final Word

and

Zen and The Art of Blabbering

I received some thought provoking email recently. They raised a number of deep issues and I shall address them one at a time. In this edition, I shall tackle the issue of Karma In-between Lifetimes. One email read in part: "I like your bravado...addressing the article "The Physically Challenged and Karma" shows insight, independent thinking, and concern that certain ideas must be released into the mass consciousness or mankind will never reach its allotted goal. Now comes the "however"...However, where did the idea originate that karma only operates between lives? From personal experience "the Eternal Mirror of Wisdom" as 16th century mystics called God, the Eternal Self, the One Mind, etc, is always unfolding creation through its LAW. The Center of The Circle is always reflecting itself at the circumference. There may be long periods of time before the physical, emotional, or mental causes that we generate are manifested as effects at the circumference of our circle, OR, the effects can manifest almost instantaneously. "The universe is always seeking balance." A Major Karmic Theme may need a new incarnation so the soul can manifest through a particular type of body that has certain strengths or weaknesses, or be in a particular environment etc...but to give the impression that karma only operates between life times I would say is to provide a false impression. (That is the impression I received)." First, let me thank the people who have taken the trouble to contribute in any way whatsoever to astrologyTOMORROWtoday ™. I have to thank Bob especially, for he not only wrote; he wrote and wrote and wrote. :> In "Our Philosophy", I *do* give the impression that I think karma operates only during lifetimes. I ask: "Why else should we have bodies?" I'm here now to set the record straight. I believe there's life after death in that spirits live on and on and on whether in reincarnated form or in spirit form. Thus, we have the disembodied spirits. Some call them "ghosts". Disembodied spirits who are earthbound continue to live out their present karmic themes until they are reincarnated. Just the other day, I read that in the United State of America, suicide was the third leading cause of death among those aged between 15 and 25 years during the year 2000. I read that depression almost always leads up to suicide. I read that when pain exceeds pain-coping resources, suicidal feelings are the result. I read that: "Suicide is neither wrong nor right; it is morally neutral. It is an imbalance of pain vs. the ability to cope with the pain." At which point the pain becomes unbearable, depends on one's coping ability and its limits. People vary greatly in their capacity to withstand pain. Ok, why am I blabbering on about suicide? Well, now just seems to be a good opportunity to say that suicide is not the end-all that some people think it is. Even if one succeeds to end a lifetime prematurely, one's soul/spirit continues to work out the present lifetime's karmic theme in the disembodied state. In other words, we are drawn (born) into certain karmic themes -- that's why we have bodies. Even if one resorts to terminating another's life to get rid of that person in a given lifetime, it doesn't mean that one has succeeded to "get rid" of that person entirely. One still has to deal with that soul in the spirit state of its present karmic theme. Spirits continue to work their agendas and their karmic themes whether in a reincarnated state or not. Spirits continue to feel pain and/or joy; that's why they're included as "sentient beings". A good example would be the channeled entities. For those of you who are considering suicide as a way out of your present lifetimes' dilemmas, listen to the blind and deaf writer/educator, Helen Keller (1880-1968): "Believe, when you are most unhappy, that there is something for you to do in the world. So long as you can sweeten another's pain, life is not in vain." Listen to sound advice. You *can* survive suicidal feelings if you do either of two things: 1. Find a way to reduce your pain, or 2. Find a way to increase you coping resources. Both are possible. Remember, you will continue to feel whatever it was you were feeling before you took your own life. All the emotional energy you think you leave behind transforms into "ghostly" manifestations. Until that is, you take on a different incarnation with a different karmic theme. (Please read this news report about what a British scientist today says about the mind after brain death.) I have said before on this site that we are all teachers and that we each teach what we ourselves have needed to learn the most. From the time I was 20 years old, I have been kind of "suicidal". I didn't like my life and wanted another. Then I met One Phone Call and he fed me with all the reasons why suicide is not an option. Twenty and some years on, I am sharing what I have learned with you. I figure, I haven't finished with *this* karmic theme! :> In "Our Philosophy", I ask: "Why else should we have bodies?" I now ask again, why SHOULD we have bodies? It occurs to me, we need our bodies to feel, think and do better than we would otherwise be able to in the spirit state. If not "better than", then at least "different than". I agree with Bob when he wrote: "A Major Karmic Theme may need a new incarnation so the soul can manifest through a particular type of body that has certain strengths or weaknesses, or be in a particular environment etc..." Top I believe the universe operates on a system even if I don't always agree with the system. Which brings me to briefly address yet another (related) recent email. This one was in response to the last update on the subject of trepanation -- "Trepanation -- What Should Be The Final Word". The email read: "Hi meinah, I read that piece and thought it horribly silly. Only studies on trepanation will reveal it's efficacy. It's far more likely the expansion window created through trepanation allows for a greater generation of spiritual energy. "Satanists use trepanation on their disciples..."?!? Give me a break. Keep in mind all babies are "trepanned". There is no final word, ever." Now, I *did* mention in my previous write-ups on Trepanation that just because babies are born with the trepan-like "fontanel" on their heads, it doesn't mean that it's a good idea for adults to seek to return to that state via trepanation. I reiterate that I believe the universe operates on a system. I believe that since we are born with the "fontanel", it must be for a good reason. I believe that reason could be for our souls to take to our bodies and that when our souls have completed the take-over, the fontanel closes up. I believe the closing up is for a good reason. I believe that an artificial reopening of the fontanel can and will result in some parts of the soul "escaping" from the body or being "released" into the ethers. This will result in the person being "not all there". If the person is already "possessed" (whether partially or wholly) by a disembodied entity or entities, the exercise of trepanation might serve the purpose of doing the opposite. That is, the "opening" might facilitate the "visiting" entity or entities to leave the body thus allowing the original soul/spirit back in. Either way, the ramifications and possibilities are wide open (gee, another pun!) and it just seems to me, that trepanation should be a last ditch, desperate attempt in a life-or-death situation where a person would have nothing more to lose. If it's true that Satanists use trepanation on their disciples, I can only imagine it's because that would allow for the easier/quicker penetration of a new (supposedly evil) soul/spirit that would in effect, take over the body of the disciple. The disciple's soul/spirit would in effect, be replaced totally or in part. The Chinese believe that a person is made up of "sum wan, chart pak". Loosely translated as "three soul parts and seven spirit parts". Or, "three levels of consciousness and seven levels of sub-consciousness". I recall meeting a particular French man who went around asking people to "push him in". He would place a hand above his head in the appropriate gesture. An actor by profession, he related how he would "float" above the top of his head and "see" himself acting on the stage. Some people call this "astral projection" or "astral travelling" and think this is "cool". However, ("however's" are here to stay, aren't they? :> ) this kind of "event" can take place in uncontrolled circumstances and that's when people "lose it", if you know what I mean. Recently, someone approached Colleague Two for some advice. Her almost 3-year-old son has not developed normally and the doctors find nothing wrong with him that could explain this slow development. Colleague Two explained that for some reason, her son's "sum wan, chart pak" is not all there. The mother offered perhaps it was because she had had a slight fall during the pregnancy. Whatever, Colleague Two has his own method to investigate these matters and told the mother that when all the "sum wan, chart pak" is in place, her son should return to normalcy. Of course, the mother then wanted to know how she could help to bring all the "sum wan, chart pak" to settle within her son. The answer is beyond the scope of this edition. Zen and The Art of Blabbering

Bob wrote once more in response to a preview that I had sent him. "I think I didn't get my point across ......Specifically, I wasn't addressing the after death state when I said in between lives. Even though your remarks were interesting they really didn't hit the bell as regards what I had written. Any reference I made to "in between lives" in what I had written meant that people seem to have the idea that what they experience in one life "always and only" originates in a previous life and not in the present life. This I see from my experience as erroneous. To state simply what I am saying is: CAUSE and EFFECT can act from one life to the next (or future lives), or it can manifest in the same life. If I slap someone today, I could get slapped back (by someone totally different) the following hour, week, year, decade, or lifetime. This does not necessarily have to wait for the next life to manifest in my experience. LIGHT TRAVELS IN A CIRCLE...... To tell you the truth you moved me in a totally new direction in thought. I never considered the action of the operation of the law of cause and effect in between lives. I do know however....and I do appreciate what you said about suicide and one's coping capabilities, but let me say on the side of NOT committing suicide... THE UNIVERSE TAKES SUICIDE VERY SERIOUSLY AND IT MAKES SURE THAT IF YOU HAVE DONE IT ONCE, YOU WILL NEVER WANT TO DO IT AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.. If a person kills himself say when he is 20, but he was meant to live until 50...he will exist in a state WHERE HE YEARNS TO LIVE AGAIN BUT CANNOT!. This condition would last for the period of 30 that would be the natural time of his death. It may sound and appear cruel, but many things on earth sound and look cruel ...but ultimately PUSH us in the right direction to solve the puzzle.....when pain, as we know it now, will not exist!! So let suicide not even be a possibility. Don't go from BAD to WORSE... (To combat depression use bright yellow and the lightness of air in meditation on the emotional plane. There is always a way through the darkness) Now I am blabbering!!!!. Thanks for letting me participate in your discussions. PS ...Trepanation ...I have read that there are practices in (I believe Tibetan Buddhism or is it Taoism) where meditators surround a disciple and use a certain mantra that induces the skull to open at the top....to make egress and ingress into the body easier. PPS....Just as an added note about astral projection and suicide....I had broken up with my girlfriend when I was 16 years old and was a little depressed, so when going to bed I said, I wish I were dead!. I then went to sleep to awaken floating near the ceiling of my room. It was like swimming, so I moved my arms in from of me to navigate... I felt I had arms ...(Like you would feel a watch you always wear but forgot to put on)..However I didn't. As this was happening, I felt a slow pull upward where my waist would be. Then I got a little concerned... and said to myself, self, you could be in big trouble. At that point the pull reversed itself, and I started to be pulled down. Next I awoke back in my body...... SO the motto is: watch what you think before going to sleep. This experience so to speak started me on my journey. AM I BLABBERING AGAIN?" If you are, it is meaningful blabber, so please blabber away. I happen to be one of those who believe that ideas should be judged on merits and not by the authority of the source. Thank you for taking the time to write.
