Love, Light and Channeling

The web is awash with the concept of love, light and channeling. While
channeling now seems to be the buzzword amongst New Agers and New Wavers,
the Orient has had a long history of it. Here, we refer to it as mediumship
trance.
Mediums here can be found in temples of the various ethnic groups. What
used to be widely acceptable practice is becoming less so as educated
Orientals move away from ethnic customs only to find that the old Oriental
ways have taken the Western world by storm.
Personally, I don't see what the fuss is about. A medium is just someone
who allows his/her body and mind to be used by spirit entities who wish
to be heard. Some of these spirit entities mean well but then they can
be replaced by malevolent spirits with their own agendas. One cannot
know for sure which entities are present at any given time since malevolent
spirits can assume the identities of friendly spirits and deceive the
mediums in trance and the listeners, much like the AIDS virus can deceive
the host body into accepting that it is a part of the body.
My point is ..., since a lifetime as a human being is only a blink in
the cosmic eye, why should we be concerning ourselves with the spirit
world when we'll be getting there soon enough? In between rebirths, we
exist as spirits anyway and so it makes sense to me that we should be
interacting with other humans and using our human faculties while we're
in human form rather than to be dicing with spirits from the other domain.
Our souls can link with spirit entities when we're asleep. The sleep
state is the domain of the spirit. That's why it's easier to communicate
with 'aliens' in our sleep state. When one interacts with spirit entities
via mediumship trance, one continues to open oneself to spiritual influence
when in the sleep state. This can be good or bad depending on the agenda
of the spirit/s who wishes/wish to influence. Why should we open ourselves
to such unknown quantities and qualities?
As humans, we should use our bodies and faculties to grow and to help
others to grow as well. We should prepare ourselves to be whole and
complete without allowing ourselves to be controlled by other entities.
Why depend on these entities for help (assuming one visits mediums for
help), when even God can't help you unless you help yourself? And if
it's guidance you're looking for, you're leaving yourself open to the
guidance of unknown forces with unknown agendas.
Perhaps you miss your dearly departed one and wish to make contact for
sentimental reasons. I wish to suggest that a better way of coping with
this loss and grief would be to continue the work of the dearly departed
in such a way as to 'keep him/her alive'.
Perhaps you regret not having said certain things to the dear one while
he/she was alive. Perhaps you need to apologize for something you've
said. Whichever way it is, trying to contact the departed ones only make
it harder for them to move on. The act of calling the departed souls
prevent them from being on their way to the village in the sky and in
theory, could cause them to be earth-bound instead.
I've heard it being said many times that if you love someone, you should
let him/her go. Go? Go where? I would counter with the view that that must
have been something somebody thought up when he/she couldn't see a love
commitment through. I mean, when you love someone, you want to be there
for that someone. Not to take but to share and give.
Ideally, we should all give to our loved ones while they are around and
then let go when they have to move on in separation or death. Sure we
grieve, miss, yearn and pine for them but we can always Will ourselves
to meet up with loved ones again in subsequent lifetimes. Although the
roles may vary and change, if your connections are strong and if there
is spiritual Will, you can make it better and more progressive with each
lifetime.
Now, if the situation was reversed, and the departed one wants to stay
in touch, he/she would find a way to make the connection with you directly.
That's the metaphysical theory anyway.
I know an Asian someone who was involved with mediumship activities
since he was a young lad of nine. He has just about seen and heard it
all. He tells of the time the medium was possessed by the spirit of a
Tiger and thereafter, he promptly devoured his own ten fingers in full
view of an audience.
And then there was this woman who was employed by me for a short time
as house help. She was 'selected' by the residing temple medium to be
the 'keeper' of the temple she frequented. In exchange for this 'honor',
she had to sacrifice a year's hard-earned income to buy joss sticks and
food for the 'gods' in the temple. She related to me how she once went
to bed at night in her house and found herself in the morning, at the
temple about 20 miles away from her home. Apparently, she had walked
the distance in her sleep! She also spoke of how she had cut herself
with a knife while in this 'possessed' state. Or should I say 'dis-possessed'
state?
Of course there are good spirits who try to work some good through
selected humans (as in God works through humans). Like a friend of mine
who was used by a good spirit to write in elaborate Chinese calligraphy
(of which he has no knowledge in the normal state), herbal prescriptions
for various ailments. Even so, today he is vehemently against the idea
of allowing himself to be used by 'unseen' forces.
Spirits that connect with mediums are not always the evolved benevolent
beings we think them to be. Some of these spirits have never had the
chance to be humans before. Other disembodied spirits might be having
problems with getting another life chance in human form and they need
to interact with humans via human mediums. Some of these spirits need
the energy of the mediums or else they dissipate into the ethers.
Spirit entities vibrate at a higher cycle per second than humans and
just being around these spirits can mess with the average human's
vibrational field. This explains the 'superstitious' primitive belief
that (evil) spirits cause sickness in humans. The question that begs to
be asked is: how then, can a spirit entity effect the cure for a disease
in a human being? A possible answer is: when a disease is caused by
the presence of (evil) spirits, then the good spirit might be helpful
if it can chase this evil spirit away from the vicinity of the sick person.
Otherwise, the sick person might well be better off, getting the help
of a psychic or natural healer who has the power and the know how to
accelerate the body's own natural healing process.
It needs to be said that some spirits don't mean any harm. They just
happen to be there where humans walk into their space. Like germs who
were here long before humans came along and invaded their space, these
spirits were there first and so like humans have to learn to host these
germs for mutual survival, humans also have to learn to live peacefully
with spirits in shared spaces.
It has occurred to me that if this is so, then mediumship trance can't
be a healthy activity for the medium. Slowly but surely, his/her life
force can only be sapped by these energy hungry entities.
New Age and New Wave thinking is more advanced than science
as we know it. However, future minds or great minds who now possess
future knowledge should be careful how they share such future knowledge.
Cosmically speaking, there's danger of their inadvertently creating an
explosion in the minds of wannabes; creating some degree of madness in
people who are not ready to assimilate the future in the present.
Knowledge that comes too soon to a mind is chaotic information. Those
handful of minds who know the future might be tempted to capitalize on
their knowledge for control of the masses.
The bottom-line? We should all be contented to learn and grow at our
own individual pace. Accelerated learning is dangerous.
